Using Social Media Effectively
Benefits of Hiring Summer Students
Once you have created your job posting, you have to ensure that students are aware
of the opportunity. Your job posting will appear on the www.nbjobs.ca website, but you
may wish to use other marketing strategies (like social media) to spread the word.
Traditional advertising mediums such as job boards and newspapers have limited
value with students who are more prone to use social media and mobile apps to job
search. Targeting the candidates through social media can increase your chances of
good candidates seeing and responding to your job posting.
Tips:
1. Embrace social media if you want to get the attention of students. Posting ads in traditional mediums (news-
papers, job banks) is a good strategy but to ensure you are reaching as much of the labour market pool as
possible make sure you are social media/mobile friendly as well.
2. Market heavily to job seekers. Clearly outline any perks, skills/training benefits with the job in your posting.
Effectively promote the vision for your organization and a positive work environment.
